Simone Tops

Studio Tops is the creative workshop established by artist Simone Tops in 2017, and based in Naarm.

For artist Simone Tops, materials are not merely passive recipients of form, but active agents in the process of becoming. The objects are a result of the artists material experimentation which is shaped by an intimate technical knowledge of glass, steel and leatherwork. These materials do not have fixed essences, rather they run in a continuum, matter into matter, surface into surface and form into form.

In Shaped at Craft Victoria, artists explore rich ideas through material transformation and storytelling— from tensions between function and aesthetic to technology and nature, culture and identity, and our experiences in lockdown.

Self Portrait

Self Portrait presents 22 self-portraits by Australian creatives, telling us who they are in this moment. Creatives were encouraged to think about their personal and professional selves, representing themselves in a single object.
